LEED Silver Certification: A Guarantee of Sustainability

We are pleased to announce that the CNESST headquarters, a project completed in consortium with Coarchitecture, has achieved LEED Silver certification with an impressive total of 53 points.

The LEED certification is one of the most globally recognized distinctions for evaluating the environmental performance of buildings. The Silver level, obtained by the CNESST headquarters, attests to the implementation of exemplary strategies and practices in sustainability.

Cecobois recently published a case study highlighting the key aspects and successes of this project, which earned it LEED Silver certification.

Innovative and Eco-Friendly Design

The new CNESST headquarters stands out for its numerous innovations in design and construction. Located in the Estimauville eco-district in Quebec, this 34,500 m² building spans eight floors and features a central wooden atrium that rises throughout the height of the building. This architectural choice is not only aesthetic but also functional, as it promotes natural light and creates an inspiring and warm work environment.

Sustainable and Locally Sourced Materials

The use of Quebec materials such as glued-laminated timber and aluminum is at the heart of this project’s design. These materials were chosen not only for their aesthetic and durability but also to support the local economy.

Energy Efficiency and Resource Management

The building incorporates several state-of-the-art technologies to ensure efficient energy and resource management. A water filtration system, glare control systems, and melatonin lighting are some of the innovations implemented to reduce the environmental footprint and improve occupant comfort.

Commitment to Employee Well-Being

In addition to meeting the criteria for LEED certification, the CNESST headquarters also aims for WELL certification, which focuses on occupant well-being. The facilities include a fitness center, central staircases to encourage active use, and spaces dedicated to work-life balance, such as an integrated childcare center.
